As part of our Enviro unit we visit a Demo Dairy which researches, demonstrates and educates farmers, visitors and trains students all about best practice in the dairy industry. Together with visits and classes such as Framlingham Aboriginal Mission, Mt Emu Creek Water Watch, Hopkins River Canoeing/Hopkins Falls, expos and other outdoor activities the students start to form varied opinions of the environment. They start to understand that there are many stakeholders at play in managing and caring for the environment. An evening class is held later in the term where each expo team adopts the ‘persona’ or platform of one of the stakeholders and debate how best to manage the land. With guest adjudicators from Demo Dairy and Gunditjmara, the debate is very interesting.
